Location: Swinton, Manchester (on‑site)

Reports to: Service Delivery Specialist
Hours: 37 hours per week (10am–6pm onsite,)
Salary Range : £30,000- £35,000 per annum
The opportunity
Luxfer MEL Technologies is looking for a motivated IT Engineer to join our IT team in Manchester. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your career within a global manufacturing business, gaining exposure to Microsoft 365, cyber security, networking, endpoint management, infrastructure, and enterprise systems.
Working alongside experienced IT professionals, you'll support colleagues across both our UK and US operations while contributing to projects that improve technology, services, and user experience.
You’ll provide first and second line support across both office and manufacturing environments, helping ensure our IT services are reliable, secure, and compliant. Alongside day‑to‑day support, you’ll contribute to continuous improvement of our IT services, processes, and user experience.
What you’ll be doing
- Providing on-site and remote IT support to users across the business.
- Troubleshooting hardware, software, networking, and device issues.
- Supporting Microsoft 365, Windows, mobile, and endpoint technologies.
- Managing user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
- Installing, configuring, and deploying IT equipment.
- Supporting endpoint management and cyber security platforms.
- Maintaining technical documentation and asset records.
- Contributing to IT service improvements and technology projects.

Essential Requirements
Essential requirements include:
- NVQ Level 3 or higher qualification in an IT-related discipline (or equivalent qualification).
- GCSE English and Mathematics (Grade 4/C or above, or equivalent).
- Experience supporting Windows and Microsoft 365 environments.
- Experience providing customer-focused IT support.
- Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- A professional and security-conscious approach when handling sensitive information.
- Ability to obtain any visas, security clearances, or travel documentation required for occasional business travel to the United States.
Technical Knowledge
Experience or knowledge of the following is required:
- Microsoft Active Directory / Entra ID.
- Microsoft Intune.
- Microsoft Teams Administration.
- Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
- Endpoint security and cyber security principles.
- IT service management practices and frameworks.
Desirable Experience
The following would be advantageous but are not essential:
- Degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Microsoft, CompTIA, Cisco, ITIL, Cyber Security, Cloud, or Networking certifications.
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial, chemical, engineering, or other regulated environments.
- ERP user administration.
- Microsoft Exchange administration.
- SharePoint administration.
- Windows Server administration.
- Windows Autopilot.
- PowerShell or other scripting experience.
- CCTV, access control, or physical security systems knowledge.
Working pattern and flexibility
- 37 hours per week
- On‑site working required (10am–6pm)
- Flexibility to support incidents or maintenance outside standard hours when needed
- Occasional travel to the United States may be required; the role supports confidential and security‑sensitive work
